You can see the little pool at the bottom and the doorway leading to it. That’s where the Medieval tunnel was. It looks like small jailcells but those were actually the rooms of the higher ups. This was more luxurious than the rest of the crew who just slept on hammocks in the gundeck. This type of keep is called a shell keep, as it is round with a space in the middle. Unlike other keeps which are large towers, like Dolbadarn. There was only one small tower within the keep that you can see here in the two doorways with the staircase. There was no one else around, just the crashing of the waves, the clouds and ancient buildings and possibly eels whispering my fortune. I still have so many questions about the magic eels. How did they get in the well? How did they tell her the fortunes? The eels must be able to speak but I guess a speaking eel is less impressive than a fortune telling eel. The cave was refreshingly cool. There are miles and miles of tunnels but only a small section can be visited. Even that small section though felt very long. We had the tunnels all to ourselves. It was definitely a must do if you’re in the area. This is really one of the highlights of the Museum. Picture from 2025, this is a newer exhibit coinciding with the 250th anniversary of American independence. It includes cobblestones added to the moat in 1648 as well as stones on one of the side walls of the fort.
